BUTTERFLY PALM CARE GUIDE
Back to Plant Directory

LIGHT
Choose a bright room for the plant with lots of indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, and low-light conditions can slow its growth.

WATER
It loves moisture so remember to water it often, whenever the soil feels dry. Let the excess water drain out in the drainage tray and empty it — never let it sit in still water. Overwatering isn’t a good idea as it can rot the roots.
Tip: Dip your finger for about an inch to check if the soil is dry, if it is – then it’s time to water. Eventually, you will get the hang of your plant’s schedule.

HUMIDITY
Dryness in air can turn the leaf tips brown. To fix it, mist the palm regularly or relocate it to someplace more humid.

TEMPERATURE
Warmer spots with temperatures between 65 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit are ideal for the palm.

TOXICITY
It’s harmless to pets and people.

EXTRA LOVE
The palm likes to be pot-bound to a certain extent which means you’ll need to re-pot it every three years or so. When re-potting, make sure that the plant sits at the same height as it did in the old pot’s soil.
